Mint Field
Mexico City based band Mint Field is one of these bands that make it shine. Guided by Estrella del Sol and Sebastian Neyra. Mint Field creates a unique blend of avant dream pop and shoegaze with some touches of trip hop that explores the nostalgia and melancholy of daily life with strong guitars and voices that are like sighs. Intrumentation and atmospheres are accompanied by delicate, harmonious and ethereal voices that are fundamental part of the sound.
With releases such as their debut album Pasar de las Luces (2018), Sentimiento Mundial (2020) and their most recent album Aprender a Ser (2023) and Aprender a Ser : Extended (2024). Their sound has evolved over the course of these years of touring all over the world.
In 2020 the band started fleshing out their latest album Aprender a Ser the follow-up to 2020’s minimalist psych/shoegaze album, Sentimiento Mundial.
Mint Field has also their own curated festival in Mexico City named after their own song ‘Sueño Despierto’. The first edition being in 2023 and second one in 2024 they had the band accompanied by Mabe Fratti, Valgur, Diles que no me maten, among others.

Sunday Evening Drive

Sunday Evening Drive combines the anthemic bravado of Springsteen with the earnestness of 80s synthpop to create something as exciting as it is catchy. Playing under the moniker since 2019, SED’s live show takes hook-filled pop songs and infuses them with frenetic energy, made for basement clubs and stadium tours alike. For fans of Future Islands, New Order, and The Human League.

Comprised of 21-year-olds Estrella Sanchez and Amor Amezcua, Mint Field’s sound is organic, spacious, and inhabited by specters that lurk behind rhythms, where Estrella’s angelic voice evokes a supernatural world of beauty and melancholy. Since recording an initial EP in 2015, Mint Field have played Coachella, SXSW and have extensively toured the US and Mexico. The band traveled to Detroit to record with producer Christopher Koltay, they managed to channel their inspirations and influences to transmit sentiments of profound sorrow, nostalgia and immaculate beauty... revisiting sounds from the past to make them contemporary. Their vision comes alive on Pasar De Las Luces ‘s 13 immaculate tracks that nod to everything from dream pop to fuzz-saturated shoegaze.

« Mint Field's music sounds more like it belongs in the scenes of Berlin or Glasgow, with layer after layer of instrumental tracks that inevitably conjures their British sonic forefathers, yet the fact that their lyrics are in Spanish changes everything: a juxtaposition of the cold aesthetic with the warmth of a Latin tongue. These contrasts have created their particular dreamscape, with brutally touching results. »
