LOW HUM

Low Hum is the immersive sonic project of Los Angeles-based artist Collin Desha, whose music folds psychedelic textures, surf rock vibes, analog synths, and emotional undercurrents into a sound that is as expansive as it is intimate. Since the release of his debut album Room to Breathe in 2019, Low Hum has been steadily building a cult following, praised for his genre-fluid approach and deeply atmospheric songwriting.

Early support from outlets like KCRW, NPR, FLOOD Magazine, and Under the Radar helped elevate Desha’s sound to international ears. Singles like “Nebraska” and “Comatose” gained traction on curated playlists and radio, while his music videos and live performances caught attention for their dreamlike aesthetics and sonic depth. Room to Breathe was followed by the 2021 album Nonfiction, which solidified his place in the indie psych-rock landscape with its rich production and raw introspection.

Low Hum has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, opening for notable acts such as Warpaint, Blue Stones, and Meltt, while also headlining intimate club dates that have become known for their immersive, reverb-washed energy. His live show—anchored by a blend of analog gear, deep grooves, and hypnotic visuals—continues to draw fans seeking a sonic escape.

In 2024, Desha collaborated with fellow Los Angeles artist Navah Sea on a concept EP centered around themes of migration and memory, with the lead single “Dreams” earning praise for its vulnerable lyricism and textural richness.

Now in 2025, Low Hum continues to evolve, exploring new sonic territory while maintaining the lush emotional core that has defined his work. With a new album on the horizon and an ever-expanding global audience, Low Hum remains a standout force in the modern indie underground—both grounded and celestial, nostalgic and futuristic.
You’ve probably heard a song the Mating Ritual brothers have written, even if you don’t know it. After amassing more than 150 million streams between their various bands and solo projects, prolific siblings Ryan Ritual and Suede James are back together after a 4 year break with Shangri-blah, their sixth and decidedly most “rock” record to date. Trading in synths and drum machines for acoustics and pedal steel, Shangri-blah is an epic album that touches on all the band’s established sounds while adding a few more to the canon.

Spending much of the recording process in California's Central Coast, the brothers chose the scenic locale and it’s many colorful lifestyles as inspiration for the albums sounds and themes. Mixed by Omar Yakar (The War On Drugs, Perfume Genius) and lyrics exploring the current state of wellness, the album is as lush and warm and cynical as the locale it was recorded. Welcome to Shangri-blah, baby.
