Live Skull ~ Martin Bisi Band ~ Bitter Wish

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PM Live SkullEmerging in the early 80s at the end of New York’s legendary No Wave scene, Live Skull reshaped the aggression of burned-out post-punk into heavy, guitar-driven rock. Mark C and his fellow founder, guitarist Tom Paine, were inspired by the nihilistic sounds of No New York and the dissonant walls of Glenn Branca and Rhys Chatham. Like their Manhattan comrades Sonic Youth and Swans, Live Skull funneled those influences into hard-edged music that valued melody as much as anarchy. “We loved the noise and the chaos that was happening in the No Wave bands,” says Mark. “But we really tried to fit it into a song.” Over the next decade, Live Skull released five albums and three EPs with a rotating cast of 11 members, all of whom added new ideas to the group’s evolving sound. Themes of struggle and chaos egged them on. www.facebook.com/liveskullofficial Martin Bisi BandMartin Bisi has been a central figure in the musical history of New York City for the past four decades. Founding Brooklyn’s BC Studio in 1981, he has helped develop post-Punk, No Wave and experimental culture through recordings of Brian Eno (On Land), Sonic Youth, Swans, John Zorn, Africa Bambaataa, JG Thirlwell, Unsane, Cop Shoot Cop, Herbie Hancock’s “Rockit”, Live Skull, White Hills, Dresden Dolls and countless others. website: http://www.martinbisi.comBitter WishFormed in Philadelphia during the Covid days of fall 2021, Bitter Wish is a psychedelic power trio comprising guitarist John Comune (Strawberry Hands/Roadkiller), bassist Clint Takeda (Bardo Pond/Double Wig) and percussionist Scott Verrastro (Kohoutek/Heavy Lidders). While the band doesn’t stray too far from its Bardo Pond and Kohoutek roots, they incorporate more repetition and minimalism into their fuzzy vibe. Baldini and The Bastards ~ Slow Motion Sadface ~ Dirty Soap

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PM Baldini and The BastardsBaldini has always used the word “American” when discussing the sound The Bastards create. It is a wild blend of sounds that are found elsewhere than their native Philadelphia. The music simultaneously does and does not lend itself to the influences of the song structures. The mixture of many sounds and styles expressed in the songs evokes familiarity without constraint to the obvious – new expressions, without intention. The Bastards brick wall of sound took dedication to patience – constant practice blended with no-rules experimentation. The comfortability they present during live performances shows their growth as a band and strength in communication while the seriousness of the content on a number of songs elicits the continuation of the hard-hitting truth-telling front porch train ride American tradition.https://baldiniandthebastards.bandcamp.com/Slow Motion SadfaceSlow Motion Sadface is the garage rock passion project of a former drummer in the Philly scene, JT Melvin. Dropping the sticks, Melvin picked up the axe and looks to follow in the footsteps of punk greats, with esoteric songwriting and cutting guitars.https://www.instagram.com/slowmotionsadface/Dirty SoapDirty Soap is a Rock group from Philadelphia. Founding members, Spoon Ferguson and Thomas Martin, met in high school and quickly formed a musical bond. Blending Spoon’s raw vocals, affinity for traditional Blues, and unique guitar stylings (he plays left handed with inverted strings) with Thomas’ smooth Doo-wop approach and catchy song writing. The name Dirty Soap represents these opposing styles. Over the years they crafted their unique sound on Philly street corners and parks – dubbing themselves “Doo-wop Punks”. Now with their explosive live performances, hard work, restless dedication, and a youthful excitement and love for their craft, they strive to be amongst the many greats to come out of Philadelphia. www.dirtysoapmusic.com
