Why Bonnie ~ Foyer Red ~ Kolezanka

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PM Why Bonnie90 in November, the first full-length LP from Texas quintet Why Bonnie, crashes into existence with a squeal of feedback and a burst of distorted guitar. It’s a dynamic introduction to a more raw-edged indie sound from a band who have matured from bedroom dream pop into a sophisticated rock act, their evolving sound a reflection of the journey undertaken by songwriter Blair Howerton on this vividly rendered collection of songs. As much a product of songwriter Howerton’s love for the intimate songwriting of fellow Texans Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley as it is her affection for the alt-rock of the Lemonheads and the Replacements, the eccentric pop of Sparklehorse, and “definitely Sheryl Crow,” 90 in November is a meditation on the pains and pleasures of nostalgia and a lesson in learning how to look back at the people, places, and experiences that have shaped us, with room for both unvarnished honesty and rose-tinted melancholy. https://whybonnie.bandcamp.com/Foyer Red Foyer Red’s EP Zigzag Wombat is somehow both twee and aggressive at the same time; their playfully chaotic arrangements bridge art-punk, math rock, and sweetly sung indie with a dash of the zoomies. Imbuing their lyrics with fantastical imagery derived from quotidian experiences (“I saw this graffiti tag one day, “zig zag wombat angel” says Elana Riordan on the inspiration behind “Plutterbee” and title of their EP), the songwriting trio of Elana Riordan, Marco Ocampo, and Mitch Myers have crafted a compelling, complex and clever introduction to their varied sound. Citing Canadian underground math-rock legends Luge (Riordan), Atlanta’s incredible post-punk Omni (Ocampo), and Björk (Myers) as musical inspirations there’s something confounding and utterly brilliant about Foyer Red’s debut EP Zigzag Wombat.https://foyerred.bandcamp.com/track/etc-2 Kolezanka After years recording under various monikers, from her youth back in Phoenix to her recent years in New York, Moore released a few early projects as koleżanka before making her official debut with 2021’s “Place Is”. Created with long-time koleżanka collaborator Ark Calkins, “Place Is” is an exegesis into the very notion of “place” and all of the ways place can be interacted with and identified. After her debut release, she joined ascendant art-punk group Foyer Red. Moore characterizes it as an era of discovery, from “getting a foothold” with Place Is to crediting the adventurousness of Foyer Red with opening up her own writing for koleżanka. During the long, dire winter months of late 2020 and early 2021, Moore found herself holed up in her Brooklyn apartment. This chapter became the genesis for koleżanka’s sophomore album, “Alone With The Sound The Mind Makes”. Fittingly for an album concerned with the internal workings of our thoughts and emotions, Moore let herself wander when writing “Alone With The Sound The Mind Makes”, following stream of consciousness wherever it led. Moore had to learn to navigate it solo, to “make friends” with various unsettled states, and in the process, she wrote an album that dives deep into a person’s reckoning with themself, their body, their experiences, their perceptions. https://linktr.ee/kolezanka

Early Moods ~ Dirty Dealer ~ Blazon Rite

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PM Early MoodsThe self-titled full length debut of Los Angeles quintet Early Moods is a marriage of classic underground doom like Candlemass, Witchfinder General, Pentagram, Trouble and Saint Vitus, paired with traditional “big box” Heavy Metal melodies and song structure. These two contrasting aesthetics may seem incongruous, but the skilled musicianship of Early Moods — some of whom have played music together since their early teens — manages to find the perfect balance between grit and gloss.Dirty DealerFormed in 2022, Dirty Dealer brings sleazy 70’s rock ‘n’ roll tunes back to the forefront. Featuring members of Heavy Temple, Serpent Throne and Narcos Family Band, this 4-piece Philly based collective injects scumbag riffs back into the current rock landscape.https://dirtydealer.bandcamp.com/Blazon Rite Hailing from Philadelphia and formed in 2019, Blazon Rite delivers a slab of Epic Heavy Metal that gives nods to many classic bands we all know and love while maintaining a distinct level of originality and unpredictability. Their style conjures intricate and lengthy hymns about war torn heroes, adventures into mystical and unknown lands and the strength and valor needed to defeat enemy foes wherever they may pass. This is not straight forward NWOBHM, Blazon Rite invites the listener into uncharted heavy metal territory with whimsical riffs and synth laden songs, similar to bands such as Slough Feg and Early Blind Guardian. The quintet is comprised of vocalist Johnny Halladay, guitarists Jim Kirn and Pierson Roe, bassist Devon Graham and drummer Ryan Haley. Prepare for battle! https://blazonrite.bandcamp.com/album/endless-halls-of-golden-totem

CupcakKe ~ lowiron ~ Cement Head (The Loft)

**All shows 21+—valid ID required** Doors: 8:00 PM Show: 9:00 PM CupcakKeBold and outspoken Chicago rapper CupcakKe achieved viral success and critical acclaim with her brazen, unapologetically explicit songs and videos that channeled the likes of Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, and Gangsta Boo. Her work explores sexuality in graphic detail, and while many of her songs are humorous and playful, she has more serious, introspective material that deals with sexual abuse (“Pedophile”), racial issues (“Picking Cotton”), and LGBTQ empowerment (“Crayons”). She debuted in 2016 with a pair of raunchy EPs and a full-length, Audacious, following with the critically acclaimed Queen Elizabitch (2017) and Ephorize (2018).https://open.spotify.com/artist/76SlrtEaq2oViRXulxjfuM lowironlowiron is a North Philadelphia native and a rising star in the music scene.
