Familiar Things ~ Afloat ~ My Cousin’s Girlfriend’s House
AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PM Familiar ThingsEasy listening pop punk/pop rock from Philadelphia, PA. Consisting of Jon Puleio (bass/vocals), Kevin Murray (guitar/vocals), Tyler Magazzu (guitar/vocals) and Ammiel Hundley (drums), Familiar Things aims to push the boundaries of the pop punk and alternative music genre. With the use of an array of musical instrumentation, multi-part harmonies, and catchy melodies, their songs have always been written for the purpose of feeling an emotion and to be able to sing and jam along. Forming in 2017, Familiar Things have always shared the common love of pop punk and pop rock, though their musical influences have gathered from many branches of music, from country to indie pop to metal. In the years since they have formed, they have shared the stage with the likes of I See Stars, The Color Fred, The Happy Fits, Boys of Fall, Bronnie, and many more talented artists. The band continues to write and record at a nearly constant rate and with each new release, look to challenge the norms of the pop punk and emo scene. https://linktr.ee/familiarthingsmusic AfloatAfloat is an alternative and emo band based out of Cherry Hill, NJ. With influences from bands such as Movements, Arm’s Length, and Tigers Jaw, our songs pull on our listener’s emotions. Hitting the scene with their new ep release “Where I Stand” via Sinking Ship Records, is a reflection of the band’s self growth and personal experiences. Along with new music, we are very active in the local South Jersey and Philadelphia music community. Continuing to curate our sound, we are focusing on building our fanbase and making new connections in the scene. https://linktr.ee/afloatband MCGH Maybe it’s the first place you learned that strings of swear words could be spewed in the same sentence with no consequence? Maybe it’s where you witnessed beer and lukewarm ramen dinners after school while you waited for mom to pick you up on the way home from work? But now, My Cousin’s Girlfriend’s House takes on a whole new meaning. Coming at you with the tastiest of jams (sans the peanut butter), this dynamic DelCo/LeCo hybrid becomes Philly’s phreshest thing since that lil special to good ole BDN on 4th & Goal in the bowlhttps://www.mycousinsgirlfriendshouse.com/
Thumpasaurus & Guerilla Toss
Thumpasaurus + Guerilla Toss at Underground ArtsFriday, December 1st, 2023Doors: 7:00 PM | Show: 7:30 PM21+ ThumpasaurusWebsite | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | Spotify In the beginning there was Thump… The primordial groove of the Universe. Thump thumped its way through all things. In the beginning groove was harmony, and harmony was groove, and it was good. Long before the age of humans, the Thumpasaurus roamed the Earth, serving the cosmos as the teachers of the Thump. The thump traversed all beings, and the Thumpasarus helped distribute its secret wisdom to all sentient and non-sentient creatures. It was good. As time passed and the Earth fluctuated between periods of great peace and great unrest, the Thumpasaurus became a threat to growing forces of evil- who fueled by a primary motivation in consumerism sought to eliminate the Thumpasaurus. To save the species and protect the goodness of the Universe, The Thumpasaurus fled the earth to the outer reaches of space time – though the Thumpasaurus swore to return to the Earth as harbingers of the age of reawakening. In their last gift to the consciousness of the cosmic manifestation of the Earth and its beings, the Thumpasaurus wrote down the secrets of the Thump in a manuscript of real troof and buried it in a sacredly SECRET location (the Appalachian mountains) in hopes that the Thump would survive and benefit future generations with happiness, love, and thump. As buildings turned to sand, and memories to dust, so too did the ancient memory of the Thumpasaurus and with them disappeared the philosophy of Thump. Guerilla TossWebsite | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | SpotifyDig deep enough inside yourself—start treating your body as your sanctuary rather than your enemy—and eventually you’ll find yourself blooming right back out into the sun. That’s the transformation Guerilla Toss trace on their newest album “Famously Alive,” their effervescent Sub Pop debut. After a decade sprinkling glitter into grit, building a reputation as one of the most ferociously creative art-rock groups working, the upstate New York band have eased fully into their light. This is Guerilla Toss at their most luminescent—awake, alive, and extending an open invitation to anyone who wants to soak it all up beside them. Singer and lyricist Kassie Carlson, multi-instrumentalist Peter Negroponte and guitarist Arian Shafiee wrote “Famously Alive” at home in the Catskills during the pervading quiet of the pandemic year.

Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMMadame Gandhi“Going deep, bravely into the pain” is how activist-artist Madame Gandhi describes Vibrations, her third studio album — and could easily double as a subtitle for it. For several years prior to the pandemic, the overachieving artist and public speaker had spent her life traveling on and off. (Here’s a sampling: Touring Oprah and MIA alike; leading a Ted Talk; writing a song for Hillary Clinton’s streaming series, Gutsy.) “While that time was beautiful, it distracted me from deeper emotional work that I didn’t know I had to do. Sometimes when we’re in that pain,” Gandhi says, “we forget that getting past it is possible. After all, pain are the pulsations that remind us we’re alive. https://www.madamegandhi.com/Perfect Cycleshttps://perfectcycles.bandcamp.com/Slighthousehttps://instagram.com/slighthouseband?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr
Born Without Bones: 10 Year Anniversary Of ‘Baby’
*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry* 7 PM – Doors8 PM – Show BORN WITHOUT BONES: 10 Year Anniversary Of ‘Baby’ There’s a song called “Sudden Relief” on Dancer, the new Born Without Bones album, that’s unlike anything Scott Ayotte has ever written before. That’s not because of the evolution of the Milford, MA outfit from solo project to fully-fledged band, either. Guitarist Jonathan Brucato and bassist Jim Creighton have been a part of the permanent line-up for a long time now, and Super American’s Sam Checkoway – who played on last year’s re-recorded retrospective EP, Pictures Of The Sun – was behind the kit for the whole record, the first time in the band’s history that that’s happened. This goes even deeper. It’s the first time that Ayotte has written a love song that’s not about love going or having gone wrong. Quite the opposite, in fact. “It’s written not from the perspective of having lost love but having gained love,” he explains. “Before, I didn’t write about any relationships until they were over, and it wasn’t usually in the most positive way. But this is a positive song I wrote for and about my girlfriend. Even though it says the nice things about her, I decided to keep in the not so nice things about me – because she’s also signing up for those. Luckily, she’s loving of both.” THE VAUGHNS Equal Vision Records and NJ/NYC-based indie-rock band The Vaughns are excited to announce the Friday, September 29 release of Egg Everything, an album produced by Joe Reinhart of Hop Along that presents itself as the band’s take on the sampler and an homage to record label mixtape CDs handed out at festivals in the early 2010s — the sharing of a variety of sounds and genres that influenced the band in the form of one release, a one band sampler. Containing elements of both the dreamy indie-pop and the effortlessly cool surf-rock/power-pop hybrid they made their own on previous releases, Egg Everything builds off the legacy they’ve already asserted for themselves while simultaneously marking The Vaughns as one of the most exciting, interesting and original indie-pop bands around today. This is them in their purest, most complete form, with all the toppings. Pre-save/pre-order Egg Everything – out on Sept 29th, 2023 – here: https://thevaughns.lnk.to/eggeverything
Marty O’Reilly (solo) ~ Turtle Ridge ~ Tyler Sensenig
AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00PM Show: 7:30PMMARTY O’REILLYExplaining Marty O’Reilly’s music is like describing a dream. It feels familiar, but at the same time unchartered. His songs sound bluesy but not blues, folk but not folk, soulful but not soul. Marty’s voice is beautiful and unique, his lyrics stark yet lush over gritty electrified guitar, melding beautifully into genre-defying music within the vast definitions of Americana. One can hear an urgency and complexity in the songs, expressing something elemental and perhaps contradictory: love and anger, joy and pain, real and imagined. The live performance is at the core of Marty’s projects. On stage, whether accompanied by a band, or alone, he enters a trance and the music is born again as something new every night. It’s what his followers call “magic”. He goes from raw gospel blues to cinematic epics, from heavy driving grooves to delicately arranged folk songs. Marty leaves the stage out of breath and sweaty, his audience in awe. It’s hard to describe, impossible to categorize. Yet people who know the music will try to explain it to you, just as you might struggle to explain a dream in the morning. The details might slip away as you recount them, but the feeling remains. “I started playing music as medicine for myself to feel good and digest some melancholy,” Marty leaves off. “Over time, I realized if music makes me feel good, the people around me who become a part of it will feel good too. It connects us on the same wavelength. I hope to give the world something real and refreshing.http://www.martyoreilly.com Turtle Ridge Turtle Ridge is a folk band composed of Colin O’Gorman (vocals), Dave Shields (guitar/vocals), Doug Myers (banjo, vocals) and Nolan Gardner (upright bass, vocals).
