Calva Louise & Vukovi w/Stellar Circuits

AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 6:00 PM Show: 7:00 PMCalva LouiseCalva Louise is a multicultural British band from Venezuela, France and New Zealand, aiming at London’s underground live scene and driven by the creative vision of Jess Allanic since their beginning, end of 2016. They soon started playing iconic festivals such as Reading & Leeds Festival in England, Riot Fest and SXSW in the United States and Rock For People in Czech Republic.  With two albums, several EPs, and a handful of collaborations to their name, Calva Louise has gathered support from BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio X, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, and DIY Mag. To date, they’ve toured with the likes of Cassyette, Slothrust, Highly Suspect, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Death Valley Girls, and Albert Hammond Jr. The band self-released their latest mixtape ‘Over The Threshold,’ in December 2023 with 7 impressive self-made music videos produced with Unreal Engine. In November 2023 the band signed a deal with Mascot Records for an album that is set to be released later this year. Calva Louise are preparing for a busy 2024 with worldwide tour dates announced already including Download Festival, Welcome To Rockville & Sonic Temple as well as a co-headline tour in the US with the Scottish band Vukovi.https://calvalouise.myshopify.com/VukoviTwo years on from their critically lauded second album, Fall Better – and a whole load of global weirdness in-between – Vukovi return with a record that is the best distillation of their unique musical vision yet. “NULA is a concept record,” says singer Janine  Now a two piece, Janine and guitarist Hamish Reilly have spent these strange two years gone plotting in their Glasgow base as to how best to achieve this. Like any artist who’s toiled over their work, Janine is keen for the record to tell its own story. And yet excitingly, they are planning a novella book supplement to the record down the line. “I’ve always been into sci-fi,” Janine says. “Growing up I loved Star Wars, The Fifth Element, Alien and sci-fi was an escape from the pain. I could sit in my bedroom and look out the window and know that there was something so much bigger going on. That’s what I want this album to be for people. An escape.” “We were probably always going to end up doing something like this,” laughs Hamish. “I grew up obsessed with bands like Rush and Dream Theatre, so music that tells a story has always been something I’ve been into. I think there’s always been a sci-fi element to Vukovi too, or at least a cinematic one.”Stellar CircuitsFormed in 2015, Stellar Circuits emerged to combine the conceptual polarities of groove-oriented music with progressive-minded technicality. Over the quartet’s lifespan, they’ve managed to fulfill their own prophecy, formulating a core sound that is complex and layered, while providing a listenability that extends well beyond the rock genre. Visceral, intellectual, groovy, technical, and melodious are rarely indicators that can all be used to describe the aural essence of one band. In the case of Stellar Circuits, the rare combination makes a striking and definitive appearance in all they do.

Twin Tribes ~ Urban Heat ~ Dancing Plague ~ New Desires

AGE RESTRICTION: All Ages Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMTwin TribesHailing from Texas, Twin Tribes is an emerging force in the darkwave scene, turning heads in 2018 with the release of their debut album “Shadows” that featured dark melodic sounds, synthesizers, lyrics about the undead, and the occult and parallel universes. They returned in 2020 with the ten-track album “Ceremony” with an evolved sound that explored love and loss while showcasing their progression as a band.   With songs that are both dynamic and introspective, they balance the darker shades of the emotional spectrum with an energy and momentum that gifts their music a powerful sense of urgency and drama. Their lyrics dig deep into the personal turmoil of love, life and loss, and have forged a new aesthetic that fuses the gothic with the romantic, viewing emotional themes through a darker lens. As their second LP gains increasing critical and commercial attention, these pillars of the independent music scene continue to re-define what genres such as darkwave and post-punk mean in 2023.http://www.twin-tribes.comUrban Heathttps://urbanheat.bandcamp.com/album/like-thisDancing Plaguehttps://dancingplaguemusic.bandcamp.com/album/elogiumNew DesiresSince 2010, DJ Paul T has been an integral part of DJSC, a revered event night in Philadelphia that pays homage to the iconic sounds of Depeche Mode, Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, and The Cure. Neptune’s Core ~ Hot Mart ~ Pillow Princess

AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMNeptune’s CoreNeptune’s Core is an alternative indie rock band made up of two sets of sisters. The four created the bad-ass group out of Chicago’s thriving indie-rock scene. Jim DeRogits summed it up best on Sound Opinions: “Their age belies the sophistication of the songwriting and instrumentation … classic alternative era with delicate fragile quiet moments exploding into loud dynamics.” As talented multi-instrumentalists and passionate music fans, they seek to bring their music to life with a love of indie and punk music while having a background in jazz and classical music. And that’s not to mention their heartfelt lyrics and the catharsis when they belt them out. Jill Hopkins (Metro Chicago and Host of Opus Podcast) says, “Every few years in Chicago as the new wave of rock band makes themselves known, a few rise to the top through a mix of talent, timing, uniqueness, and natural charm. And I have not seen many bands do that as well or as quickly as the women of Neptune’s Core.” Neptune’s Core brings forth new sounds and new emotions with their latest EP, Called Upon (Side Hustle Records).https://www.neptunescore.com/ Hot Mart Philadelphia indie-alt-gaze-rockhttps://lnk.bio/hotmartbandPillow Princess Not quite rock, more of a pebble. pillow princess is the newest offering from Philly music-scene stalwart, and Secret Nudist Friends front-person, Mattie Klauser. CONAN ~ PSYCHIC TRASH ~ OKTAS

AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 8:00 PMCONAN”I guess this is where I’m supposed to wrap up by calling them immortal or making some clever-bul-still-cliché remark about their work living forever. Well fuck that. Everything fucking dies.” – The Obelisk.”A very high recommendation from a longtime fan” – grizzlybutts.com”I’m so excited for the future of this band and all there is to come. A wondrous listen that, in spite of the crushing and trudging weight behind its mass, only finishes too soon.””Evidence of Immortality is a classic Conan record proving the band’s continued ascent like that of a victorious battle hawk. Hail Conan.” – New Noise Magazine”Very much like a recordly flattening Conan” – Metal Hammerhttps://www.hailconan.com/PSYCHIC TRASHFor the better part of the last 15 years, the duo of Max Dameron (guit/vox) and Sam Ford (drums/vox) have been too weird and too wild for this lame-ass planet. After enjoying vagabond stints living in Portland, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn, they now call Detroit home. Here they rebuild, out of the scraps and wreckage of the 21st century, something which casts aside any rules or adherence to banal tropes. Specializing in the unexpected, Max and Sam have wrought an individual sound that’s as much post-Melvins sludge punk as it is futurist prog metal. Their forthcoming self- titled debut, recorded in 2022 at High-Bias in Detroit, puts on display the fruits of their metamorphosis. From the soaring triumphal fuzz of “Uncanny Valley” or the sweep and thrust of “House of Butterflies” their craft is precise, they’re just making up their own shapes to sculpt. Times change and artists mature: now under the name PSYCHIC TRASH, Ford and Dameron come to Riding Easy Records as veterans turning a fresh page, reinvigorated at the prospect of forging a new path and the beneficiaries of about a decade and a half’s slog through the underground. Psychic Trash’s self-titled debut is unmistakably uncompromising, a little theatrical, intermittently manic, and deceptively broad in style for just how much punk rests beneath.https://linktr.ee/psychictrashOKTASAn okta is a unit of measurement used to describe the amount of cloud cover one might experience on any giving day. Oktas began in 2017 by artist and musician Bob Stokes as an exploration into the depths of bass instrumentation. Influences ranging from ambient minimalism to atmospheric black metal to epic doom metal woven together with a cinematic edge. Based in the filth ridden streets of south Philadelphia the lyrical content transports you to a world destroyed by mankind’s own hubris. Plagued with endless war, constant natural disasters and humanity desperate for redemption.https://oktas.bandcamp.com/album/the-finite-and-the-infinitehttps://www.instagram.com/oktasband/

Scott H. Biram ~ Driftwood Soldier

AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 8:00 PMScott H. BiramScott H. Biram, a proud Texan raised on the outskirts of Austin, is a maverick in the tradition of Doug Sahm, Roky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators) and Gibby Haines (Butthole Surfers). Shortly after releasing his third record (2003’s Lo-Fi Mojo), the 28-year-old’s life was nearly cut short after a near-fatal head-on collision with a big rig semi. He was still bedridden when he made his Rehabilitation Blues EP, the predecessor to his 2005 debut for Bloodshot Records, The Dirty Old One Man Band. Flash forward to 2022. After almost thirty years of tirelessly writing, recording and touring the front and backroads of America as a solo bluesman, collecting a wide array of critical accolades, Biram found himself suddenly stopped cold by the pandemic. Once again, unwilling to allow outsized forces slow him down, he took advantage of the shutdown to write, record and produce nine new songs and two traditional covers for his new album, The One & Only Scott H. Biram, his 13th overall and 9th for Bloodshot Records. “I’m constantly trying to go back to the junky, lo-fi sounds of my early records,” says Biram. “But it’s harder to do now. The more you learn about production, the harder it is to convey that genuine unproduced feeling. I have to compromise between overproduced and lo-fi, so it sounds pro, but still keeps that grittiness.” “I tend to be all over the place. My brain’s restless. If something interests me, I’ll write a song about it. I have a kinda rootsy, blue collar approach with blues, country and folk, but I always throw in  some of my heavier influences from metal and hard rock. I consider myself a singer and guitarist, above everything else.” The music on The One and Only Scott H. Biram has the down home, in-your-face feel that Biram is noted for. “No Man’s Land” opens with a blues turnaround played on a twanging electric guitar, backed by a stomping bass and drum backbeat. Biram growls out a lyric, describing the hazards of growing up poor in a small Texas town, breathing the fumes from oil wells and brush fires. “I was remembering a bumper sticker I saw as a kid that said, ‘Oil Field Trash and Proud of It!’” Driftwood SoldierDriftwood Soldier isn’t your average mandolin-bass foot-stomping gutter-folk duo. Growling and crooning, muttering about lost love, brimstone, and the glorious view from the underside of a rusty world order, Owen holds the rhythm on mandolin and foot percussion. To his left, Bobby stretches bass notes into lyrical vines that vibrate somewhere north of your liver and flower unexpectedly at night. This is the kind of roots music that grows through the cracks in a West Philly sidewalk and drinks its rainwater laced with motor oil. Their second full-length album, Stay Ahead of the Wolf, arrived late in 2019. It was produced with Erin McKeown and mixed by Grammy winner Ted Hutt. Unfazed by a world in disarray, Stay Ahead of the Wolf crawled up onto its four legs and went barrelling through the digital ether, carrying with it this strange beast’s howl.https://driftwoodsoldier.com

Peter Rono ~ COWBOYKILLERR ~ GAWD ~ inutech

AGE RESTRICTION: Only Ages 21+ can purchase tickets for this show. NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES for anyone underage who purchases or attempts to use these tickets. Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30 PMPETER RONOThe multifaceted Philadelphia native has been an unyielding force in the city’s underground rap and metal/hardcore scenes for over a decade. While many know him as the frontman for buzzing Metalcore band Kaonashi, Peter Rono is also active in the deep-fried pocket of SoundCloud’s internet-infused Hip-hop community. He’s dropped over 12 projects since 2020, and collaborated with the likes of yungster jack, d0llywood, Christ Dillinger, and Fatherblaze. His August release Berkeley Sessions EP with Saito Flossy and Vantana Row finds Peter as experimental and fun-loving as ever. After nearly a year of touring the world with Kaonashi, Peter will return to the homeland and remind the city he’s really a rapper fr.Instagram | SoundcloudCOWBOYKILLERRThe trailblazing Philly emcee has solidified himself as one of the hardest working rappers in the city. In the last two years he’s released over 9 projects and dozens of singles. In addition to his work ethic, COWBOYKILLERR made a name for himself as one of the most intense live performers in the city. Much like the title of his March release “Kentucky Derby,” both the crowd and stage will turn into a rodeo once COWBOYKILLERR takes it.Instagram | SoundcloudGAWD“Keeping up with GAWD’s musical output is a full-time gig. Over the past decade, he’s logged more than 1,500 SoundCloud uploads—mostly self-produced rap tracks, along with beats for sale and DJ mixes—across nearly 50 different aliases including TRICK RACER, MR I GOT GASS N I CNT PASS, and, simply, YEAH. There’s probably even more material I’m missing. There have been GAWD songs that I heard once and was never able to find again, leaving me to wonder if they were hallucinations… The enigmatic 24-year-old’s music comes off as random and improvised but, in the grand tradition of mind-meltingly prolific rappers like Lil B, there is intentionality to the chaos.”Instagram| SoundcloudINUTECH““I make freak music for freaky people,” inutech explained to AL DÍA on a sunny afternoon in Clark Park. The emcee, originally from West Philly, beams with excitement as they describe their genre-defying music. inutech’s 2021 release “CUPID” provides a glimpse into the vast terrain their music encompasses. The six-minute track starts as an acoustic ballad that progresses into a distorted autotune mesh of 80s pop, emo, and punk, with an ending sequence that sounds like the final level of a Sonic The Hedgehog video game.”Instagram | Soundcloud
