Sharon Needles

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors7:30 PM ShowSharon NeedlesBefore launching his career in music, campy drag performer Sharon Needles appeared on the reality/competition television show RuPaul’s Drag Race. Born Aaron Coady in Newton, Iowa, Needles faced anti-gay harassment in his hometown, but with a move to Pittsburgh in 2004, he became a living, breathing, and vogueing example of the It Gets Better project. Loving all things gothic and ghoulish, he launched the Haus of Haunt, a group that glitzed up Pittsburgh’s nightclubs with their punky, campy, and scary revue. In 2011, he became a contestant on the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, winning the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar” and blowing up social networking with glamorous folks like Lady Gaga singing his praises. In 2013, he brought an extra dose of fabulous to the world of music by releasing the danceable and dark debut album PG-13.

Mörk Gryning ~ Arsantiqva ~ The Noctambulant

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors7:30 PM ShowMÖRK GRYNINGMÖRK GRYNING was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993 by Goth Gorgon and Draakh Kimera. The debut album “Tusen År Har Gått” (1995), was recorded at Unisound Studios, produced by Dan Swanö and released by No Fashion. The group returned to action in November 1996, working at Sunlight Studios together with Tomas Skogsberg and DISMEMBER’s Fred Estby to craft the “Return Fire” record. This album would include their interpretation of SLAYER’s “Necrophiliac”. Returning in 2000 along with guitarist Avathar, a scene veteran, the band wrote “Maelstrom Chaos” at the legendary Grieghallen Studios Bergen, Norway. In January of 2004, MÖRK GRYNING cut their rendition of “Neverwhere” for an AT THE GATES tribute album “Slaughterous Souls – A Tribute To At The Gates” released through Drowned Scream Records. Ever since the debut album, “Tusen år har gått…”, MÖRK GRYNING have refused to follow in the footsteps of others and have walked their own paths – something which is made very clear on the 2003 release “Pieces of Primal Expressionism”, an experimental and heavy progressive release recorded at Dug out, produced by Daniel Bergstrand. After a couple of years of touring and festival performances, the band was put on-hold. Returning to the scene again in 2017, the band performed an exclusive live show in Stockholm playing all the songs from the debut album and some other songs from the back catalogue. This ended in releasing the 4-song live record called “Live at Kraken”.ARSANTIQVAArsantiqva is an extreme metal act hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Officially formed in September of 2009 by Diktator (Guitar/Keys), Haeor (Bass/Drums), and Abraxas (Vocals). They are driven by a doctrine of post-apocalyptic dystopian philosophy, the expression of a disintegrated civilization deconstructed to a primitive state of existence.https://arsantiqva.bandcamp.com/THE NOCTAMBULANTThe Noctambulant is a melodic black metal ensemble from Jacksonville, FL. Specializing in a dark, atmospheric sound that invokes the blackest of northern tenets while never ignoring titan hooks that keep listeners coming back; The Noctambulant literally means “night walker”, a fitting title for a musical collective risen from the darkest catacombs of metal.  https://thenoctambulant.bandcamp.com/

Vision Video ~ Fast Car Slow Car

VISION VIDEOAs an active paramedic, firefighter, and veteran of the war in Afghanistan, Vision Video lead Dusty Gannon has seen more horror in real life than in the classic movies he draws inspiration from. When not saving lives on the front-line, Dusty dons torn fishnets, combat boots and makeup to play post-punk that recalls the genre’s heyday when the lines between goth and pop blurred to create some of the underground’s most beloved acts such as The Cure, The Smiths and Joy Division. But hidden within Vision Video’s catchy hooks and dancy beats is a nostalgic yet desperate message exploring the darker undertones of our existence. At its core, Inked In Red looks inward to understand the effects of war and the global pandemic. Dusty’s experiences in service have imparted an authentic gravitas to the music, revealing a cautionary tale of unhinged mental illness born of trauma. Sonically, this is reflected in every chord and melody through its enticingly gothic yet often upbeat nature. Vision Video’s debut imparts a duality of mania that, simply stated, is real malaise and existential dread that cannot be made facsimile. https://visionvideoband.com/FAST CAR SLOW CARhttps://fastcarslowcar.bandcamp.com/

Holy F*** ~ Penelope Isles ~ John Deluxe

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors7:30 PM ShowHOLY F***A band who have played by their own rules for the last part of 15 years, Holy F**’s new album is the most accomplished moment yet from a group who have become one of their country’s finest, and most influential, exports; seamlessly fusing the gauzy drive of krautrock and deep house’s dreamy ineffability, and expertly blending purring motorik percussion with the sort of fuggy synthetic fizz that so often sends clubbers into states of unselfconscious rapture.https://www.holyfuckmusic.com/Penelope IslesPenelope Isles are centred around siblings Jack and Lily Wolter, originally from the Isle of Man, and for several years now based in Brighton. They create dynamic blissed-out moments soaked in fuzz-noise waves – their songs fragile yet ferocious. Indie-psych currents meet lustrous melodies with a blend of the sibling’s voices. To support the release of their debut album ‘Until The Tide Creeps In’ they played over 150 shows all over the world, including three tours in the USA. They’ve hit the road with bands ranging from The Flaming Lips to Wallows and The Magic Numbers. Loved by fans, DJs, tourmates and writers, this debut marks them out as one of the most exciting UK bands of the last few years.
“Sweltering guitars scorch the earth while summery synths and keys frolic in spaces left between the drum line and spiraling vocals, the riff phrases communicate nearly as much warmth and meaning as the lyrics do.” – Stereogum
“There is a grandeur to their songs, big and swelling, ebbs and flows…The whole band is seriously talented, and…seriously rock, too.” – Brooklyn Vegan
“…a dreamy but biting piece of guitar pop…soaring, pastoral, highly intelligent songwriting.” – Clash MusicSpotifyJohn DeluxeJohn “Deluxe” Markowski is a guitarist/vocalist based out of Philadelphia who uses samples and a variety of acoustic instruments to create unique avant-pop songs.https://johndeluxemusic.bandcamp.com/

Patrick Sweany ~ Anthony Revolta

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors7:30 PM ShowPATRICK SWEANY likes the spaces in between. On a given night (or on a given album) he’ll swing through blues, folk, soul, bluegrass, maybe some classic 50s rock, or a punk speedball. He’s a musical omnivore, devouring every popular music sound of the last 70 years, and mixing ’em all together seamlessly into his own stew. Yet, the one thing that most people notice about Patrick isn’t his ability to copy – it’s his authenticity. Like his heroes, folks like Bobby “Blue” Bland, Eddie Hinton, Doug Sahm, Joe Tex, Patrick somehow manages to blend all of these influences into something all his own. It’s no wonder that as a kid he immersed himself in his dad’s extensive record collection: 60s folk, vintage country, soul, and, of course, blues. Patrick spent hours teaching himself to fingerpick along to Leadbelly, Lightnin’ Hopkins, and other folk-blues giants. In his late teens, Patrick began playing the clubs and coffeehouses around Kent, OH. He quickly gained a reputation for the intricate country blues style he was developing: part Piedmont picking, part Delta slide – with an equally impressive deep, smooth vocal style. Now, twenty years, six critically acclaimed records and one massively viral song (“Them Shoes”) later, Patrick Sweany has expanded his touring radius to 49 states, Canada, and Europe, both headlining and supporting acts such as The Black Keys, Tedeschi Trucks, The Wood Brothers, Hot Tuna, and others on tour. Latest record, Ancient Noise (a title lifted from fellow NE Ohio musicians Devo), was recorded to tape at legendary Phillips Recording in Memphis with GRAMMY-winning producer/engineer Matt Ross-Spang at the helm. It features the incredible backing talents of Ken Coomer on drums (ex-WILCO), Ted Pecchio on bass (Susan Tedeschi, Col. Bruce Hampton), and Charles Hodges from Al Green’s Hi Rhythm Section on keyboards.ANTHONY REVOLTA (of CTHULU MARTINI)https://linktr.ee/cthulhumartini

**CANCELED** Spanish Love Songs ~ Save Face ~ Camp Trash

Hi Everyone,   The Spanish Love Songs show tomorrow at the First Unitarian Church is getting canceled due to a positive COVID test in the tour party. Refunds are being dispersed. Please allow 3-5 business days to process.    Below is a statement from Spanish Love Songs regarding the cancellation:   “Due to a positive Covid-19 case within our party we are forced to cancel the remainder of our US tour. We’d like to thank Save Face and Camp Trash and encourage you to checkout their pages as they’ll be playing some of the shows. Thanks and stay safe! “   Reach out to [email protected] with any questions.    Thanks, dkp   SPANISH LOVE SONGS “When you’re young, you just want to be heard,” opines Dylan Slocum. The singer and guitarist of LA-based punk quintet SPANISH LOVE SONGS is referencing his band, but he could just as easily be talking about himself. Since forming in 2014, Spanish Love Songs certainly have been heard, from legions of underground audiences at The Fest and South By Southwest to outlets like NPR, who hailed the group’s 2018 album, Schmaltz, as a “wellspring of big ideas, bigger riffs and the biggest possible feelings about love, war, fear and existential crisis.” Schmaltz was an album colored by guilt and self-doubt, an insular collection of soul-searching songs that found the singer amplifying his grief while kicking back at a world that seemed to be doing its best to keep knocking him down. It was a cathartic album, one that admittedly took a lot of Slocum’s soul to create. (“I don’t want to be the band where each album is me complaining about myself for 40 minutes,” he says.) So instead, Slocum decided to look outward for Spanish Love Songs’s third album, BRAVE FACES EVERYONE, due out February 7, 2020 on the band’s new label, Pure Noise Records. Steeped in the same detail-rich storytelling of Bruce Springsteen, The Menzingers and Manchester Orchestra and filtered through the band’s sweat-soaked punk fervor, the songs on BRAVE FACES EVERYONE represent the situations Slocum and his bandmates — guitarist Kyle McAulay, bassist Trevor Dietrich, drummer Ruben Duarte and keyboardist Meredith Van Woert — experienced during 30-some weeks of rigorous touring during the Schmaltz album cycle. These are character stories set in small-town America and anxious urban jungles alike, unfurling heartbreaking tales of addiction, depression, debt and death juxtaposed alongside looming societal bogeys like mass shootings, the opioid epidemic and climate change. They’re all at once personal vignettes and universal truths of life in the 2010s, the lines blurred between Slocum’s own experiences and those of his friends and acquaintances. Because, as he sings in “Beachfront Property,” “Every city’s the same/Doom and gloom under different names.” These are the things that affect us all.

D.R.I. ~ Retox A.D. ~ Honey

D.R.I.  We are a punk/metal crossover band with our roots set in hardcore. Established way back in 1982, we have about 10 CD’s & 2 DVD’s out on various labels and are considered to be one of the forefathers of speed metal and thrash punk music. We started out in Texas and moved to the Bay Area cause we heard the SF area had free food at the soup kitchens (from which the classic tune was written!!!!!)When we started our influences were bands like Black Flag and the Dead Kennedys. In 1982, our first release, which was really a demo, the 22-song 7″ EP, kickstarted our career as a formidable hardcore band. 22 songs in 17 minutes. Blistering fast, with on-the-dime cuts, and vocals to match. Said to contain the first grindcore blast ever recorded (No Sense). This record was later pressed into an LP, and was considered to be our first official release even though it was only 17 minutes. The 22-song debut eventually was combined with our second release, 1984’s Violent Pacification EP, and came out on CD in the mid-eighties, when that technology reached indie labels. In 1985 we started to listen to bands like Metallica & Slayer. Our second full length release Dealing with It, showed a progression to the metal side of the music genre. This album also was said to make an impact, and helped start the crossover movement. “We fused together our influences, and shoved into the DRI mold, Dealing With It is what came out”. DRI went on mixing its own brand of punk metal releasing: Crossover, Four of a Kind, Thrash Zone, Definition, a live album recorded in 1992, before releasing Full Speed Ahead in 1996 ; our last full length release. We have been re-issuing our old catalog with bonus tracks for the new millennium. We also got a bunch of Live DVD’s in the works, starting with the 1984 CBGB’s live DVD that came out in 2005. Summer of 2016 saw the release of the first new material in years. But Wait..THERE’s MORE came out as a 7″/12″ and CD.The band currently consists of original core members and song writing team, Spike Cassidy (guitar) and Kurt Brecht (vocals), along with Gregg Orr (bass) and Rob Rampy (drums). We are that band with the skanker in the circle. You know, the running man. The mosher. We appeared on a Beavis & Butthead episode. We also held the Guinness Book record for fastest band in the world, back in the day. We played with just about every major band you can name, and most festivals in our travels around the world for over three decades. We now have over 120 DRI songs under our belt, and still play about 35 or so when we play live.RETOX A.D.Wisconsin based hardcore punk featuring members Wartorn, Choose Your Poison, Lion Slicer, Alleyway.https://re-toxad.bandcamp.com/album/rabid-dogHONEYhttps://honey-philly.bandcamp.com/

Signals Midwest ~ Downhaul ~ Five Hundred Bucks

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors7:30 PM ShowSIGNALS MIDWESTDENT is the fifth LP from Cleveland, OH rock band Signals Midwest, recorded by J. Robbins (Against Me!, Jets to Brazil, The Promise Ring). Inspired by a stolen and ultimately totaled van, the album confronts the uncertainty of a world at halt, and transmits the shaken-up-soda-can energy that fueled its writing process. With a feedback squeal and a quick four-count, DENT hits the ground running, and what follows is just over a half-hour’s worth of big songs about little moments, ominous futures, the lure of nostalgia, and finding shards of peace in an almost all-consuming wreckage. In a world up in flames, DENT is a project born from the ashes.https://signalsmidwest.bandcamp.com/DOWNHAULCommitment is messy. After five releases that swayed between plaintive indie-punk and the pull of alt-country, Downhaul has finished their decision dance. PROOF, the Richmond-via-Greensboro quartet’s sophomore LP, definitively steps towards a sound tangled in the dense mystery of the South rather than trailing the anthemic reaches of their contemporaries. Commitment is messy, uneven, and difficult—but commitment is a clear choice. With PROOF, Downhaul has chosen to be without equals at all. It’s a distinction you can prove.https://downhaul.bandcamp.com/FIVE HUNDRED BUCKShttps://fivehundredbucks.bandcamp.com/

Flasher ~ Mesh ~ Pinkwash

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors7:30 PM ShowFLASHERThe band’s 2018 debut, Constant Image, was a triumph – a set of songs both dizzy and explosive, balancing new-wave lushness and post-punk frenzy. Love is Yours steps up the ambition and reaches for the horizon. The record is ablaze with mood, melody, and carefully threaded hooks, finding the band foregrounding the pop sensibilities that had always been present in their previous releases. It retains the attitude that was fundamental to the band’s DIY roots, but cuts loose a touch of the angst. Though the songs process disillusionment and loss, the music evokes warmth and optimism. It is their best record and also their most generous.https://flasherdc.bandcamp.com/album/constant-imageMESHPhilly 4-piece punk band, Mesh, formed in late 2019 building their sound from 3 demos recorded by guitarist and vocalist Sims Hardin (Dark Web). Sims, joined by Allison Durham (posture) on guitar and vocals, Steve Darling (Mint) on drums, and Tom Riese (Mint) on bass have departed from the demos to create something more cohesive and diverse sounding. With the formation of the full band, Mesh’s sound is driven and angular, drawing inspiration from bands like Wire, UV Race and Swell Maps. Their debut tape is being released summer 2021 on Born Yesterday Records based in Chicago. https://meshphilly.bandcamp.com/PINKWASH PINKWASH is a heavy punk duo based out of West Philadelphia. After an EP and 7-inch released on Sister Polygon, their debut LP for Don Giovanni Records is out now. Splintered rhythms and ultra-loud riffs. https://pinkwash.bandcamp.com/
