New Enemies (EP Release) ~ Mildred

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*8 PM Doors8:30 PM ShowNEW ENEMIES (EP RELEASE) Former members of the Philadelphia-based band, Turning Violet Violet, came together to make New Enemies. Exploring themes of life, coming of age, and loss, they marry synths, washed-out guitars, and a driving rhythm section. Led by vocalist/songwriter Sarah Gulish, New Enemies plays earnest songs with catchy melodies and drifting guitar lines. Their 2016 was hailed as a beautiful new beginning for the band of friends. Journalist Julie Miller reviewed the songs as “majestic in a somber, soft way, billowing up in a cloud of horns as Sarah Gulish’s vocals float in layers over top. The chamber rock of TVV’s songs still ripples underneath, but as New Enemies, they’ve added a shiny gloss of atmospheric pop that ties it all together in a Death Cab-meets-CHVRCHES kind of way.” In Spring 2022, N.E. is back with a self-titled E.P. and a string of east coast shows.MILDRED Mildred is the project of Philly musicians Salina Kuo, Maggy Simon, Hannah Jordan, Natalia Bellini, and Melissa Schepers. Named after the street some members lived on together, Mildred was born in an effort to play music and feel connected. They combine guitar, bass, drums, and sometimes ukulele and mandolin with overlapping violin melodies that blend western classical, pop and folk. Mildred is looking forward to their debut EP release in spring of 2022.

Ecstatic Vision (Elusive Mojo Record Release) ~ Heavy Temple ~ Flatwaves

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors8 PM ShowECSTATIC VISION (ELUSIVE MOJO RECORD RELEASE SHOW)Elusive Mojo finds Ecstatic Vision firing on all cylinders with this unhinged, raw and dangerous new album. The band continues down their unique warpath mixing heavy psych rock, Detroit rock, proto-punk, and world music. The album contains caveman grooves that would rattle the remaining teeth out of the Asheton brother’s skulls, scorching saxophones that would make Nik Turner feel high on a potent mix of speed and Viagra, and basslines hot enough to melt down the Lemmy statue. Elusive Mojo was recorded live to 2” tape in their beloved hometown of Philadelphia by Joe Boldizar (Sonic Praise) with Bob Pantella (Monster Magnet), and mastered by their old drinking buddy Tim Green (Melvins). What emerged was a burly, timeless and unique sounding record that is hard to tell if it was recorded in 1971 or 2022.https://heavypsychsoundsrecords.bandcamp.com/album/ecstatic-vision-elusive-mojoHEAVY TEMPLEA trio of psychedelic doom metal deviants, here to take you on a wild ride. https://heavytemple.bandcamp.com/FLATWAVES A dusty acid trip in the desert, Flatwaves combines fuzzed out heavy instrumentals with reverb drenched vocals, culminating in a cauldron of sounds that is part garage rock, part shoegaze, part surf goth, and part psych that feels like surfing through existential dread.https://flatwaves.bandcamp.com/

Bass Drum of Death

Bass Drum of Death are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of “GB City” (Fat Possum Records) by performing the album in its entirety. Bass Drum of Death are from Mississippi. John wrote and recorded the whole record himself using just a drum set, a guitar, a USB microphone, a computer and a shitload of talent. The songs are about drugs, panic attacks, stealing stuff, mild to severe depression, Elvis appearing in your dreams and giving you advice, gravity bongs and the devil living inside your brain. This record is the soundtrack playing in your head when you’re fucked up and walking home in the middle of the night, still after all of these years.https://www.bassdrumofdeath.com/CUMGIRL8https://cumgirl8band.bandcamp.com/album/ripcumgirl8MK & THE ULTRASFrom droned-out, ambient soundscapes, to frantic blasts of psych/surf mayhem, MK & The Ultras (featuring Matt Kelly of Philly’s Toy Soldiers) are always creating music that’s colorful and inviting. Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel ~ Bootblacks ~ Rosegarden Funeral Party

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors7:30 PM ShowJAY ASTON’S GENE LOVES JEZEBELFor a band to stay relevant across decades is unusual — but to do so with much of the same line-up for most of that time is exceptional.  Such is the case with Gene Loves Jezebel, which indicates that these musicians come together not only out of an appreciation for the memorable music they create, but also because they truly like and respect each other.  Jay Aston (vocals), James Stevenson (guitars), Pete Rizzo (bass) and Chris Bell (drums) — with Peter Walsh producing — have created extraordinary GLJ songs for 30 years now.  With their new album, they honour that legacy by expanding it.https://genelovesjezebel.co.uk/BOOTBLACKSBrooklyn post-punk.http://www.bootblacks.net/ROSEGARDEN FUNERAL PARTYRising from the inferno of heartbreak with a determination towards gentility, humility, graciousness, and kindness, Rosegarden Funeral Party takes influence from life’s tragedies and spins chaos into beauty. Leah Lane fronts the band with a voice like that of the lovechild between Morrissey and Siouxsie Sioux and her guitar playing has been compared to that of Daniel Ash. with bass playing that takes obvious inspiration from Peter Hook. With synths trapped in the loving arms of the 1980’s, rhythmic percussion and drums inspired by dark dance floors, Rosegarden Funeral Party prove to be the second-coming of traditional goth.https://www.rosegardenfuneralparty.com/

Karl Blau ~ Night Palace ~ Beach Fuzz

*All events are 21+ valid ID required for entry*7 PM Doors7:30 PM ShowKARL BLAUKarl Blau is an American indie rock and country vocalist, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Philadelphia, PA, but originally from Anacortes, Washington. A member of the Knw-Yr-Own/K Records collective, he is known for his musical output, live shows, and self recording and distribution.https://www.karlblau.com/NIGHT PALACENight Palace’s debut record Diving Rings is a shocking alchemy: aching nostalgia meets frothy anticipation of what’s beyond the garden wall. Tantalizing pop melodies take wing with lush instrumentation, a bed for Draut’s intimate and softly shimmering vocals. It’s hard to believe the album is not a soundtrack to . . . something. You find yourself picturing it: a moonlit-gilded diorama of songwriter Avery Draut’s dreams and memories.  Growing up, Draut would wake to her dad blasting Court and Spark or Nilsson Schmilsson as he danced around the living room, riling the dogs. At school in Athens, Georgia she studied classical voice. Burned out after five years of fruitful but intensive opera performance, she found a Magic Genie™ organ at the thrift store and sat down, for the first time, to write songs of her own.  In 2016, Draut moved to New York. She maintained her connection to Athens, watering roots in two artistic ecosystems. Her songs would fall into place on long solo drives down the east coast in her grandma’s old Buick.  The songs on Diving Rings might be found on a playlist among Broadcast, Alvvays, Vashti Bunyan, and Mort Garson’s Plantasia.https://www.nightpalacemusic.com/BEACH FUZZBeach Fuzz is the Philadelphia-based collective work of Ross Aronow (Vox, Guitar), John Crane (Drums), Jack Dratch (Keys), Eric Juelke (Guitar), and Jack Venneri (Bass). Their sound is a fusion of indie pop, psych-rock, surf rock, and classic rock.
In 2017, five high schoolers came together to jam and share their song ideas. After a self-titled EP and a taste of the Philly DIY scene, the guys spent most of 2018 polishing their sound, culminating in the release of their debut LP, “Casual Encounters.” The album established their presence in the college circuit, playing basement shows all across the city. They gained a reputation for high energy performances, crowd engagement, and an unmatched sticker game.
Following the release of “Talking by the River,” the pandemic, as well as an unexpected boost in online followers, encouraged the band to experiment with remote recording. Months of video calls and file sharing led to the release of two EPs, “Holding On” and “Losing Touch.”
